Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitor that has been approved for the treatment of hypertension (Hypertension). Its efficacy has been demonstrated in clinical trials, but clinical trials involving individuals with hypertension have been unsuccessful and are being conducted in other clinical areas, such as pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), heart failure (HF), and the management of erectile dysfunction (ED). However, the efficacy of Sildenafil has been controversial and currently not FDA-approved for this indication. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Sildenafil in the treatment of women with hypertension and the response to it in men. Sildenafil was administered orally once daily for five weeks. Blood pressure was measured in all patients at baseline and throughout the treatment, and the response to the study drug was evaluated by measuring blood pressure at baseline, four and four weeks after drug administration. Sildenafil plasma concentration was also measured in patients taking blood pressure monitoring tablets. The study evaluated the effects of sildenafil on sildenafil plasma concentration and on the response to treatment. After three weeks of treatment, sildenafil plasma concentrations were statistically significant in patients with higher blood pressure values than in patients without hypertension.
Hypertension is a chronic medical condition that can lead to changes in blood pressure. The prevalence of hypertension is about 30% to 50% in men and 40% to 50% in women, and approximately 50% of them have hypertension alone. Hypertension can be associated with other diseases, such as diabetes mellitus (DM) and hypertension-related comorbidities. The prevalence of hypertension is higher in older adults than in younger adults, and about 40% of the male population has hypertension. Therefore, the use of antihypertensive agents like Sildenafil in women is still controversial and still a treatment area of concern in clinical practice. Despite its promising results, the use of Sildenafil has been associated with adverse effects such as hypertension (ED), which is associated with poor adherence to therapy and may even lead to adverse effects in some individuals.
In this study, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Sildenafil in women with hypertension and the response to the study drug in men. To the best of our knowledge, there is only one pharmacological agent that has been evaluated in women with hypertension. The most widely used agent is sildenafil citrate, which has been widely prescribed for the treatment of ED and hypertension. Sildenafil is available in various forms including tablets, oral suspension, gel, and injectable tablets, with a daily dose of 25 mg or 50 mg. In clinical trials, sildenafil has been shown to improve exercise capacity, decrease the risk of hypertension and increase the risk of ED. It is important to consider that the benefit of sildenafil in men is limited because the efficacy of this agent has been demonstrated in only a few controlled clinical trials. Therefore, it is reasonable to use Sildenafil in women with hypertension to achieve the desired effects and to reduce the risk of side effects associated with the drug.
In this study, we investigated the safety and efficacy of Sildenafil in women with hypertension. We also compared the response to the study drug with sildenafil, and to the other medications used to treat hypertension in women.
This randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, multicenter study was carried out at the Department of Urology, Hospital of St. Louis, Missouri, United States (OHSA). The study was approved by the institutional review board, and written informed consent was obtained from all participants. The patients who took part in the study were either recruited from women living in the United States or from the United States and were willing to participate in the study because they were suffering from hypertension or other related conditions and were taking the study drug. All participants were taking sildenafil for treatment of hypertension, which is the recommended dose for the treatment of hypertension in women. The study was performed at the Department of Urology and Hospital of St. All subjects received a daily dose of 25 mg sildenafil for the treatment of hypertension. They were instructed to take sildenafil at least one hour before each dose of the study drug. The study drug was a generic product that was manufactured by Pfizer Inc., and it was manufactured in Korea.
